Welcome to the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World's original theme park. Opened in 1971, the Magic Kingdom is the most visited theme/amusement park on Earth. The Magic Kingdom is home to many of Walt Disney World's most celebrated attractions, including Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain. And it is, without a doubt, character central. This is the place to meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and many, many more.
Even on slow days, crowds at the Magic Kingdom can seem huge. On busy days, as many as 90,000 people will be there. On slow days, this might be 35,000 people. The average attendance over the course of one year is 47,000 per day, which is slightly more than the number of people it takes to fill the average Major League Baseball stadium.
The Magic Kingdom is divided into six "lands." They are Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Main Street U.S.A., and Tomorrowland. You enter through Main Street U.S.A. Cinderella Castle is essentially in the middle of the park and serves as notice as to where you are from all points in the park. From Main Street Circle, which sits immediately in front of Cinderella Castle, you can reach the other five lands, either directly or indirectly.
Not only is the Magic Kingdom home to Disney characters, but it is also home to multiple parades and a nightly light and fireworks show above Cinderella Castle. In addition, there are Disney employees throughout the park who will take your picture, draw your picture, make a balloon animal, and do many other fun things to enhance your time here. There are marching bands, singing groups, and other performances throughout the park each day.
We hope you have wonderful time at Magic Kingdom!
