Asia is the only land at Animal Kingdom that does not have a specific character greeting spot nearby. But that doesn't mean characters don't make it to Asia. You are very likely to spot a Yeti near Expedition Everest, and other characters sometimes make their way through Asia's streets. The afternoon parade also works it's way along the Asia promenade on its way back to Africa, bringing all the parade characters through Asia.
There are three entrances to Asia at Animal Kingdom. The main entrance is the bridge from across the Discovery River from Discovery Island. One side entrance is the promenade along the Discovery River from Africa. Another side entrance is a the far right side of Animal Kingdom, a bridge from DinoLand U.S.A. in front of Expedition Everest.
The layout of Asia at Animal Kingdom looks somewhat imposing on the guidemap but is actually quite simple. It is much like an inverted "T." The main promenade runs along the side of the Discovery River from Africa all the way around to the bridge to DinoLand U.S.A. As you leave Africa, you will see a row of buildings, including Flights of Wonder and some restrooms. There are kiosks along this path. About halfway through Asia, the promenade intersects another promenade. The second promenade heads deep into Asia, and takes you to the restaurants, most of the shops, the Maharajah Jungle Trek, and to the right, Kali River Rapids. Further ahead on the main promenade is the Expedition Everest area. After Expedition Everest you turn and cross the bridge into DinoLand U.S.A.
Two attractions go deep into the Asian jungle. The Maharajah Jungle Trek is a long walkway through the jungle which at its farthest point is near the train station at Rafiki's Planet Watch (you would never know this on the ground). Kali River Rapids begins near the row of restaurants and shops and takes you on a river raft ride back through the Asian jungle.
Expedition Everest is the visual focal point of Asia. While it is on the far side of both Asia and Animal Kingdom itself, it is visually imposing as it towers above everything else. It should help you always know roughly where you are while in Asia.
There are three public restroom areas in Asia at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The first is next to Bradley Falls, right at the entrance to Asia from Africa and slightly to the left after entering Asia from Discovery Island. Another one is toward the back of Asia, behind Yak and Yeti Restaurant and near the entrance to Maharajah Jungle Trek. The other restroom area is next to the Anandapur Ice Cream Truck, just to the left of the Expedition Everest entrance.
